THE ROBIN HURT AWARD

FOR THE BEST TROPHY OF NON - DANGEROUS GAME TO BE TAKEN BY A CLIENT
OF A MEMBER OF THE AFRICAN PROFESSIONAL HUNTERS ASSOCIATION

IN 2008 THE AWARD IS PRESENTED BY HONORARY MEMBER MR. JODY NEWELL.

This award is one of the three most prestigious prizes to be won by a Professional Hunter.

It is to be presented to the fully paid up Professional Hunter member of APHA whose client obtains the best trophy of non-dangerous game in the calendar year preceding the Annual Meeting and Dinner to be held over the annual SCI Convention

  1. The competition is applicable to all animals from Suni to Giant Eland and all those in between but excluding the "big six".
  2. A most important factor that will be considered by the Judges will be in respect to entries of bongo. A bongo trophy that is taken having been tracked from the beginning to the end of the hunt will be awarded double the number of points above one that has been taken with dogs.
  3. The name of the client who took the trophy must be included in the entry.
  4. The country and location where the trophy was taken must be stated.
  5. Points will be awarded for the difficulty of obtaining the trophy. Therefore a description of the hunt will be necessary and very important to the decision of the judges.
  6. The entries must have been hunted on a free range basis and in countries in which the species can be legally hunted.
  7. "Canned" hunting is forbidden by the A.P.H.A. and any trophy from any such "canned" hunt will be automatically disqualified.
  8. A member may enter more than one trophy if he feels that he has several worth entering.
  9. Entries must be supported by photographs of the trophy.
  10. It is essential that all entries must have authenticated official SCI measurements made by a S.C.I. Official Measurer. Photocopies of the SCI score card will be accepted. Measurements of his own client's trophy made by a candidate Professional Hunter without the SCI score card will not be accepted.
  11. Scoring of the trophy will be as follows:
    a. 70% for the size of the trophy
    b. 25% for the difficulty of hunting the trophy. This is particularly applicable to bongo.
    c. 5% for the scarcity of the trophy.
